ACTIVE AGING FITNESS Master Fitness Trainer: Alan Bernard
ACTIVE AGING FITNESS was founded by Master Fitness Trainer, Alan Bernard. Alan is a native of Des Moines, Iowa, but has spent several years in Florida, Kansas, Minnesota and Illinois. Alan has an undergraduate degree from Drake University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Drake University School of Law.
In 2012, at age 58, Alan embarked on a quest for a healthier future and began a personal fitness and nutrition transformation. He studied and was certified as a Master Fitness Trainer. A regimen of regular exercise and proper nutrition over the course of 18 months resulted in a personal reduction in weight from 235 pounds to 165 pounds and a toning of the body to a condition he had not seen since high school. Alan returned to the Des Moines, Iowa, area in 2013 to spread the message of a healthy lifestyle to others.
Alan is a Certified MASTER FITNESS TRAINER by the National Federation of Professional Trainers, and has certifications as a:
- CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER
- FITNESS NUTRITION SPECIALIST
- RESISTANCE TRAINING SPECIALIST
- ENDURANCE TRAINING SPECIALIST
Alan is also a Certified “CORRECTIVE EXERCISE SPECIALIST” through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). This discipline allows Alan to be even more effective at improving movement efficiency and correcting faulty movement patterns of clients who have muscular imbalances or who have suffered an injury.
Alan is also a Certified “GOLF FITNESS SPECIALIST” through NASM. ACTIVE AGING FITNESS provides individual and group programming to improve flexibility, mobility, strength, endurance, and power designed to significantly improve swing mechanics and golf performance by improving club-head speed, decreasing golf trajectory errors, and reducing total golf scores.
Alan is a premier personal trainer. His fitness and nutrition training allows him to educate and motivate clients to realize their goals. ACTIVE AGING FITNESS can train male and female clients of all ages with varying objectives including fat and weight loss, toning, muscle gain, stress reduction and management, sport-specific athletic training, body building and general health.
